Tips

Be realistic.

If your desires are larger than your pocketbook, you could be setting yourself up for disappointment. It's a good idea to be realistic and stay firmly grounded. Keep in mind that you can always renovate!

Enjoy the search.

Don't undertake a search with time limits, constraints, or other restrictions and pressures looming. The right house--the one that you will turn into a home--could be found after looking at three homes or thirty. What is it that they say about Patience?

Perfection.

Willingness to address small cosmetic problems can allow your home search to encompass many different properties. If you are looking for a perfect, move-in ready house, your standards are very high, with very few resale homes that will fit the bill. The ability to overlook the small for the large will prove rewarding in the long run.
